Top 3 Places to Visit in Gatlinburg for a Great Cardio Workout
If you’re joining one of the action packed tournaments at our Gatlinburg sports campus and are arriving into town a few days early, you’ll probably want to get a few cardio workouts in before the big game! This is the perfect way to get your mind and body in the zone as you prepare for your competition, and will also help you get a good night of sleep in advance of your match! Here are the top 3 places to visit in Gatlinburg for a great cardio workout:
1. Ober Gatlinburg
Ober Gatlinburg offers an enclosed ice skating rink that is open all year round, so head up to the mountaintop amusement park any time of year for a cardio workout on the ice! Skating not only gets your blood pumping and your heart rate up, but it works nearly every muscle in your body! The best part is that it’s a blast to glide around on the ice, so you’ll hardly even realize you’re working out! The indoor ice skating rink at Ober Gatlinburg is large enough to have hosted the Ice Skating Institute Competitions in the past, and it even hosts the Tennessee Special Olympics ice skating competition each year! If you visit Ober Gatlinburg during the winter months, you can also go skiing and snowboarding on the mountain too!
2. Gatlinburg SkyTrail
Another one of the top places to visit in Gatlinburg for a great cardio workout is the Gatlinburg SkyTrail at Gatlinburg SkyLift Park! This is a unique opportunity to boost your heart rate while enjoying some of the most spectacular scenery in the Great Smoky Mountains! The trail connects each end of the park’s SkyBridge, the longest pedestrian cable bridge in North America, and covers just over one-third of a mile in three distinct sections. The Elevated Boardwalk is a wooden walkway that leads along the hillside of the ravine, while the Tulip Tower is a 70 foot tower in the back of the ravine accessed by two rope bridges! The trail finishes up with The Path, a non-boardwalk portion of the trail that cuts straight into the natural hillside!
3. Mynatt Park
Mynatt Park is considered a hidden gem in Gatlinburg, making it the perfect destination when you want some solitude during your cardio workout! The park features some fantastic walking trails, as well as a basketball court and tennis courts for your enjoyment. It is not unusual to see a bear while visiting the park, so keep your eyes open for the most famous resident in the Smoky Mountains! There are two other city parks with hiking trails as well, including Herbert Holt Park just off the Parkway and Mills Park just off Highway 321.
Now that you know the top places to visit in Gatlinburg for a great cardio workout, you’ll be all set for any of the exciting tournaments at our Gatlinburg sports campus! We look forward to seeing you soon at our state-of-the-art facilities in the Great Smoky Mountains!
