6 Things We Love About Spring in Gatlinburg at Rocky Top Sports World
Spring is finally here, and everyone at Rocky Top Sports World couldn’t be more excited! To help visitors make the most of their time in the Smokies, we have put together a list of six of our favorite things about spring in Gatlinburg:
1. Hiking in the Smoky Mountains
Although visitors to Gatlinburg can enjoy the trails in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at any time of year, the spring offers the best hiking conditions. After all, the snow has melted away and the fresh spring air just beckons you to be outside! In addition, hikers will enjoy the park’s beautiful spring scenery such as the blooming wildflowers that decorate the mountains. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is filled with exciting trails, ranging from easy to difficult, that wind between historic structures and the natural scenery. Follow the link to learn about hiking Rocky Top, the mountain that inspired our Gatlinburg sports complex’s name.
2. Driving Tours
The spring is a great time to take a pleasant drive to explore Gatlinburg and the surrounding region. Roll down the windows and explore popular scenic routes near Rocky Top Sports World, such as the Cades Cove Loop, Newfound Gap Road, Little River Road, the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail, and the Gatlinburg bypass. These delightful roads provide plenty of pull-offs so that you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery and take some pictures to show your friends back home.
3. Exciting Outdoor Activities
Gatlinburg really comes alive in the spring with a nearly endless variety of fantastic outdoor activities to enjoy! With comfortable weather that is neither too hot nor too cold, the spring season is perfect for a day of mountain biking or ziplining at CLIMB Works. For some wet and wild fun, visitors to the area can conquer the Pigeon River with a whitewater rafting trip from Smoky Mountain Outdoors. If you want to organize a game of football, lacrosse, soccer, or any other turf sport, our Gatlinburg sports complex has seven fields available for rent, complete with bleacher seating, picnic tables, and a children’s play area. Check out the Rocky Top Sports World Facilities page to learn about everything we have to offer.
4. Awesome Accommodations
Gatlinburg is home to all types of great accommodations that are virtually a destination on their own! Cabins and chalets in the area feature all kinds of wonderful amenities such as full kitchens, game rooms, and theater rooms, as well as outdoor hot tubs that are delightful on a spring night. The Smoky Mountains area also has plenty of highly rated condos, hotels, and bed & breakfast accommodations to meet your needs. Rocky Top Sports World partners with many local properties to provide discounted rates for guests participating in our tournaments, and we encourage you to check out our Lodging page to find the perfect place to stay for your spring trip.
