4 Things to Do in Gatlinburg as a Treat with Your Kids

After a long weekend of your children working hard at a sporting event or youth sports camp, you may want to treat them to something fun. There are several fun things to do in Gatlinburg, from riding a mountain coaster to playing on a playground at Anakeesta. Here are 4 things to do in Gatlinburg as a treat with your kids:

1. Take Them Out for Ice Cream

ice cream on a cone If you don’t have a ton of time, a great way to treat your kids is to take them out for ice cream. Mad Dog’s Creamery is a locally owned ice cream shop. They have classic flavors such as vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. You can also try one of their signature flavors, such as white chocolate raspberry, Yellow Brick Road, or caramel pie. You can get a cup or cone and top it with sprinkles, candies, fruit, or whipped cream. Do your kids not like ice cream? Mad Dog’s also has donuts, funnel cakes, and other sweet treats!

2. Ride a Mountain Coaster

Another fun thing to do in Gatlinburg with your kids as a treat is to ride a mountain coaster. You will have a blast racing along the track as you twist and turn. You can ride with your kids, or each of you can ride in your own cart. You also get to control the speed with the hand levers, so enjoy a leisurely ride or go as fast as you can for ultimate thrills! A great mountain coaster to ride is the Moonshine Mountain Coaster. Not only will you have fun racing along the track, but you also get to enjoy the view of the Smoky Mountain woods.

3. Play at Gatlin’s Fun Center

You and your children can have a ton of fun playing at Gatlin’s Fun Center. They have an outdoor ropes course that’s perfect for people who want to get their adrenaline pumping. There are two outdoor mini golf courses and an indoor blacklight golf course. You can play laser tag with each other to see who wins the most points. There’s a laser maze, bumper cars, and escape rooms. No matter what you like to do, you’ll find something fun to do at Gatlin’s!

4. Visit Anakeesta

Anakeesta is another great place to take your kids as a treat after they worked hard at one of our events. You can choose to ride the chair lift or a Ridge Rambler to the top. Once you’re there, your kids will want to play on the Treeventure Challenge Course or ride Anakeesta’s mountain coaster or duel ziplines. You should all walk on the Treetop Skywalk to see beautiful views of the forest. There are quite a few places to grab a meal or a treat, and you will all enjoy walking around and looking at the beautiful views.
