Former Lady Vols to Lead Gatlinburg Basketball Camp at Rocky Top Sports World
Rocky Top Sports World is excited to announce that two former Lady Vols will lead the Camp of Champs basketball camp at our sports campus in the Smoky Mountains! Here is everything that you need to know about this unique opportunity to train with former University of Tennessee basketball players Shannon Bobbitt and Alberta Auguste:
Camp of Champs Dates and Times
The Camp of Champs is a two day program offered on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4, 2015. The camp will last from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
Gatlinburg Basketball Camp Location
The Camp of Champs will take place at Rocky Top Sports World at 1870 Sports World Boulevard, Gatlinburg, TN 37738. Our sports campus in the Smoky Mountains is conveniently located less than 10 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg and the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Rocky Top Sports World has plenty of parking for all Camp of Champs attendees and their chaperones.
In addition to the Camp of Champs, we host a huge variety of sports tournaments and events throughout the year. Our 86,000 square foot indoor facility contains 6 basketball courts, 12 volleyball courts, team rooms, and referee locker rooms, and our outdoor facilities include 6 fully lit fields and a championship stadium. What to Expect at the Camp of Champs
The Camp of Champs is for boys and girls ages 6 to 17 who love basketball. Shannon Bobbitt and Alberta Auguste will lead participants in a variety of activities, including stretching, conditioning, training drills, and organized games. The camp is presented by the Greater Development of All Youth (G.D.A.Y.) Camps, which is dedicated to helping kids become better basketball players.
Gatlinburg Basketball Camp Cost and Registration
Registration for the Camp of Champs is $60 per child for the April 3rd session and $60 per child for the April 4th session, or $100 for both the April 3rd and April 4th sessions. If you are registering three or more campers for the two day session, you will qualify for the discounted rate of $75 per child.
Note that 50% of the camp registration fee is non-refundable, but 50% may be refunded up to two weeks prior to the camp session. If the cancellation occurs within two weeks of the session start date, the entire registration will be forfeited.
About Shannon Bobbitt and Alberta Auguste
Shannon Bobbitt and Alberta Auguste played on the Tennessee Volunteers Women’s 2008 and 2007 championship basketball team, respectively, and were both coached by legendary coach Pat Summitt, who won more basketball games than any other basketball coach in NCAA history.
Shannon Bobbitt was the 15th pick in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) in 2008 when she joined the Los Angeles Sparks. She has also played for the Indiana Fever and Washington Mystics as a professional basketball player.
Alberta Auguste had eight steals in one game while playing for Tennessee, which was the fourth-most by a Lady Vol in a single game in UT history. In addition, Auguste played AAU basketball for the Louisiana Storm in 2003, where she helped her team achieve a fourth place finish at the national championships in Orlando, Florida.
