Top 4 Places to Go Swimming in the Smokies After Your Summer Tournament

After participating in a summer tournament at our Gatlinburg sports campus, there is nothing like cooling off with a refreshing swim! The great news is that there are several fantastic swimming options just minutes from our facility, including an indoor swimming pool at a community center right next door! Here are the top 4 places to go swimming in the Smokies after your summer tournament:

1. Gatlinburg Community Center

The Gatlinburg Community Center features an indoor swimming pool that is open to the public, as well as a bowling center, gymnasium and racquetball facilities. The pool is one of the best bargains in Gatlinburg as you can purchase admission for just a few dollars! This means that you can splash around for hours after your tournament and keep cool on a warm summer afternoon, all without getting a sunburn! The best part is that the Gatlinburg Community Center is situated adjacent to our sports campus! The pool is open daily throughout the year, but keep in mind that public swim time is subject to swim lessons and swim team schedules.

2. Splash Country at Dollywood

Mountain Waves is a huge wave pool that offers all the fun of the beach, but without any sand between your toes! Thrillseekers will want to head directly to some of the action packed slides, including the Big Bear Plunge, Fire Tower Falls, Raging River Rapids and the TailSpin Racer. If you prefer something a bit more relaxing, grab a tube and kick back on the Downbound Float Trip!

3. Swimming Holes

There are also several swimming holes available in the Smoky Mountains, including a few near the Greenbrier entrance to the national park! Greenbrier Road is just a few miles east of our sports campus and it follows the Little Pigeon River for about 7 miles into the park. Along this road, you will find numerous pull-offs where you can park and walk down to your own private swimming hole! If you travel west from our campus towards Wears Valley, don’t miss the Metcalf Bottoms Picnic area where there are also multiple shallow swimming holes!

4. Hotels, Condos and Cabins

poolThe awesome thing about our Gatlinburg sports campus is that we are just minutes away from a wide variety of lodging accommodations, including hotels, condos and cabin rentals! The benefit of staying in a hotel or condo is that almost every accommodation of this type includes a swimming pool for guests. After your sports tournament, simply head back to the hotel, change into your bathing suit and take a refreshing dip in the pool! While there are some cabin rentals that feature their own private pool, the primary benefits of cabins include private decks, full kitchens, hot tubs and other amenities.

Now that you know where you go swimming in the Smokies, check out all of the upcoming events at our Gatlinburg sports campus today to learn about our summer tournaments! We hope to see you soon!
